Tether plans to acquire 51% stake in South American agricultural giant Adecoagro, CEO Ardoino: Make agriculture great again

Tether, the issuer of the stablecoin USDt, is seeking to expand its investment portfolio by acquiring a majority stake in the South American agricultural company Adecoagro.

Adecoagro is an agricultural and industrial company operating in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, listed on the New York Stock Exchange. According to the announcement on February 18th, the company received a "voluntary non binding proposal" from Tether Investments, the investment division of Tether, to acquire Adecoagro's outstanding common stock at a price of $12.41 per share, which will ultimately result in Tether holding 51% of the company's shares.

Tether had already invested $102 million in Adecoagro's stock as early as last year. According to the latest announcement, the company currently holds approximately 19.4% of Adecoagro's outstanding common stock.

Adecoagro The board of directors held a meeting on February 16th to review the terms and conditions of the proposal and is currently consulting with legal and financial advisors to evaluate whether the offer is in the best interests of its shareholders. Diversified investment strategy

According to Tether's Q4 2024 assurance opinion released at the end of January, the company's net profit for 2024 was as high as $13 billion, and its total holdings of low-risk US Treasury bonds reached a new high of $113 billion.
